Earley Mayor supports the Link!

We are delighted to share the news that Councillor Caroline Smith, Mayor of Earley, has chosen us as her nominated charity for 2023/24. She has said:

“For me personally it was Covid that brought home to me the effects of extreme loneliness and how it can mentally affect a person's health. I was one of the lucky ones as I had my husband with me but I really missed the daily contact with the volunteers I worked with in my job as Manager of a Cancer Research Shop. Also, I missed the many customers I met during my working day, especially the regulars.  

For many people this is their life with only the television for company which I feel is an unpleasant side effect of 21st living. But we can do something about this and having met volunteers from the Link at an Open Day I know they are helping to overcome this issue. Choosing a Charity is not just about fundraising, but it is getting the message out to the residents that need help.”

We are very much looking forward to inviting Caroline along to some of our events during our 25th Anniversary year.
