Christmas

Since launching our festive programme 15 years ago, we’ve helped 1000s of people feel less alone at Christmas. Together, our community has ensured that Christmas feels kinder, and far less lonely year after year with events, activities, workshops and parties.

While our core work focuses on year-round befriending, Christmas can be an especially difficult time for older people, when loneliness and grief often feel sharper. That’s why we go further at Christmas, creating meaningful moments of celebration, comfort, and belonging. As one Link Friend, Anne, told us: “Having a diary full of activities in December gave me something to look forward to... it’s usually a really difficult month, but this time I felt quite excited and included.”

“So much work went into giving us the best Christmas ever - thank you!”

Christmas 2026

We rely heavily on donations to support those in our community who need us most. Your support will help bring some festive cheer and support throughout winter.

Christmas Day lunch

We’re bringing festive cheer to those who are alone and who would love some extra company - a friend to talk to, a delicious meal on Christmas Day plus a gift of treats.

Christmas events

Our brilliant festive programme includes social events, creative workshops, group outings, school partnerships and more to bring the community together.

Thoroughly enjoyed the event, from the bottom of my heart thank you… we were the party table dancing and singing to all the songs!

The Link = friendship and support.”

Join us this festive season

We understand how difficult and painful the festive season can be for those on their own. Each year, we bring festive cheer to those who are alone in Wokingham Borough and who would love some extra company. If you or someone you know would like to join us, please contact our team.

2026 will be our 15th year of hosting a joyful Christmas Day celebration, and it’s one of our favourite days of the year. We also deliver a brilliant festive programme including social events, creative workshops, group outings, school partnerships to bring the community together. If you’re looking for some company, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer this Christmas

Each year we're overwhelmed by the generosity of volunteers who give their time. From transport and gift deliveries to wrapping presents, companionship and welfare calls, volunteers of all ages help our Link Friends feel remembered and cared for.

If you’d like to volunteer, please get in touch.

Give the gift of friendship

This Christmas, your donation can make sure no older person in our community spends the season forgotten. Funding is urgently needed to run our full programme of festive events, and to give every Link Friend a gift - one that, for many, will be the only gift they receive this year.

We rely on the generosity of people like you to reach those who need us most. With your support, we can bring warmth and connection to older people who would otherwise be facing Christmas alone - and carry that support through the long winter months ahead.

“To the most caring, helpful and nice people around. I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done for me.

You’ve give me the incentive to never give in during unhappy and stressful times. So thank you all. You deserve all the accolades you receive.”
