Our campaign goes live

Our Loneliness Awareness Week campaign goes live in Woodley

We're delighted to be marking Loneliness Awareness Week 2026 with a brand new awareness campaign launching in the heart of Woodley Town Centre.

Our digital billboard campaign launched this week at Chequers Bus Stop D on Reading Road, Woodley, and will be running until 22nd June. We were thrilled to be joined at the launch by Deputy Mayor of Woodley, Cllr Bill Soane, alongside our Business Administrator Lydia Pugh.

Woodley is a significant part of our community. Of the 503 older people we currently support across Wokingham Borough, 82, around one in six, live in Woodley. And of our 421 dedicated volunteers, 38 are based there too. We're really grateful to Woodley Town Council for their support in helping us spread the word and reach more people across the local community.

During the visit, Cllr Soane heard about the work The Link Visiting Scheme does to support older people and adults experiencing loneliness, from one-to-one befriending and visits to group activities and community events. He was also keen to understand the scale of volunteering needed to sustain our work, and the answer is simple: we're always looking for more wonderful people to join our team.

Cllr Soane said: "Loneliness can affect anyone, regardless of age or background, and its impact on health and wellbeing can be significant. It was inspiring to hear about the incredible work The Link Visiting Scheme is doing across our borough to help people feel connected and supported. Their volunteers make a real difference every day, and I encourage anyone who has some time to spare to consider getting involved."

We couldn't agree more.

Loneliness Awareness Week is a timely national reminder of just how important human connection is, and how much of a difference a friendly face, a regular visit, or a warm welcome can make to someone who is struggling.

Whether you're looking for connection yourself, want to volunteer, or simply want to learn more, we'd love to hear from you.
