One day, 26 miles

This May, two of our amazing volunteers, Pam and Chris, are taking on an inspiring challenge in support of The Link Visiting Scheme – walking a full marathon in just one day along the beautiful Thames Path.

Pam and Chris are no strangers to going the extra mile for others. Through their volunteering, they’ve already made a meaningful difference to the lives of older people in our community, offering friendship, companionship and connection. Now, they’re quite literally taking things a step further.

Their marathon walk is not only a personal challenge, but a powerful way to raise vital funds to support our work reducing loneliness and social isolation. Every step they take will help us continue changing lives with friendship.

If you’re able to support Pam and Chris, even a small donation can go a long way. Your encouragement will help keep them motivated throughout the 26-mile journey – and every pound raised will make a real difference to the people we support.

A message from Pam and Chris

“Chris & I have been volunteers with The Link since early 2020, visiting people in their homes, chauffeuring them to events, delivering jigsaws and getting involved with other community events. This was when I met my first Link Friend, Michael, who used to play in a band and had some very interesting stories to tell of his younger life. Michael loved playing music when I visited and, with perfect pitch, was quickly able to pick up 'new' songs to play and sing along to - including Coldplay and some of my favourite Simon and Garfunkel songs.

Your donation, however small, will go a long way to keep all these activities going and also help keep myself and Chris motivated to keep putting one foot in front of the other along our 26.2 mile walk. Thank you!”
