A day of thanks

We were delighted to welcome over 100 supporters, volunteers and community partners to our Thank You Day at All Saints Church, Wokingham. The event was a chance to come together and celebrate the positive difference we are making for older people across the borough.

The morning gave us the opportunity to recognise the generosity, commitment and community spirit that make our work possible. It brought together many of our long-standing supporters, alongside new faces keen to learn more about the impact of The Link.

Speaking at the event, our Chair of Trustees, John, reflected on the atmosphere of the day:

β€œThe event felt really special and it was fantastic to meet so many of our supporters and thank them for the positive difference we’ve made together.”

During the event we shared more about our past, present and future work supporting older people through friendship, connection and meaningful activities. Guests also enjoyed the opportunity to speak directly with our staff and volunteers about the different projects and initiatives that make up The Link.

A highlight of the morning was the collection of pledges from guests, demonstrating the strong support that exists within our community. These pledges ranged from fundraising and volunteering to helping spread the word about our work.

Among those pledging support was Alwyn Jones, Deputy Mayor of Wokingham Town, who committed: β€œTo give you my time and commitment over the following twelve months and beyond.”

These pledges reflect the growing momentum behind our work and the willingness of local people and leaders to play an active role in strengthening connections and supporting older people across Wokingham Borough.
