Link Visiting Scheme volunteer John shares his experience of building connections with his Link friend and how volunteering has been so meaningful to him.

I have found the experience of volunteering so far to be extremely rewarding and uplifting. The hour and a half or two hours I spend each week fly by, and we generally have quite a laugh and joke. I can honestly say I enjoy every minute of our natters, and consider John more than just a Link Friend, but a proper mate!

We generally kick-off with what we've been up to during the week. John has recently purchased a mobility scooter, so we've had a lot of chat about that.

John has a vast knowledge of engineering, cars, music and clay shooting to mention just a few, some of which I hope has filtered through to my very "non-technical" brain!

I would like to think that we both share similar views on current affairs and the general state of the country.
