We won Charity of the Year!
We’re thrilled to share that we’ve been named Charity of the Year at the Best of British National Business & Community Awards! From almost 2,000 nominations, The Link was shortlisted in two categories: ‘Charity of the Year’ (among 21 charities) and ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Community’ (among 26 charities).
The evening was a vibrant celebration of excellence and impact, featuring a drinks reception, a three-course meal, and an inspiring keynote speech by motivational speaker, author, and entrepreneur Brad Burton.
The highlight of the night came when the judges announced The Link Visiting Scheme as the winner of the ‘Charity of the Year’ award.
John Mallaghan, Chair of The Link, said:
“Being chosen as Charity of the Year at the Great British Business and Community Awards is well-deserved recognition for 27 years of friendship and social connection delivered to some of the most vulnerable in our community. Huge thanks and congratulations to our dedicated staff and our fantastic volunteer family who make these outcomes possible.”
Marjie Walker, CEO of The Link, added:
“This is a wonderful acknowledgement of the love and friendship shown by our amazing volunteers, past and present, and our exceptional team. It’s a privilege to work alongside such inspiring people, and we’re excited to organise a special ‘thank you’ event for our dedicated volunteers.”
This national recognition highlights the power of local charities to create meaningful change.

“Well done to the team for winning this award!! You all work so hard to offer an 'extremely large and varied' diary of activities and support for people who would normally be so isolated.
